Policy Work

WYSE Travel Confederation is the only global organisation representing the youth, student and educational travel industry.

Companies, associations and destinations join us because they are interested in the development of the industry.

They are united by common issues that negatively affect their business (eg. restrictive visa policies, regulations, poor quality standards in suppliers, lack of knowledge of the market, etc…).

It’s our job to give a voice to these concerns and, where necessary, lobby politicians to support our members.

Representing our members

We put across the views of the youth, student and educational travel industry to intergovernmental organisations such as UNWTO, UNESCO, UNAOC and the EU.

The creation of the San Diego Declaration at WYSTC 2012 is a good example of this. We also represent our members at major events such as,

A facilitator for the industry

We can bring local and national stakeholders to the table to discuss specific issues relating to the sector. A good example of this is our Annual High Level Policy Forum for Official Tourism Organisations at WYSTC.

Support for individual members

On a more local scale, we can provide members with letters of support when they need it to lobby local authorities. Such applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

We can endorse members as trusted members of WYSE Travel Confederation. Candidates for membership have to prove that they are in a solid financial situation and that they agree to abide by our code of conduct.

If members break the code of conduct or fail to pay their fees, they may be disaffiliated. This ensures that we can endorse members with confidence.
